Poetic Documentary: Crooked Beauty

I recently watched this short documentary and found it quite remarkable.

I enjoyed the poetics visuals and how you could relate them to the story. The visuals were very abstract, leaving room for the viewer to create the own interpretation of the story the visuals were telling, communicating them as they seem to fit and not being forced to think a certain way.

Also the black and white overlay creates an atmosphere within the film. The long shots create rhythm and each scene has its own rhythm going on within it. This is something I will try with the footage I have collected.

I really like the openness of the visuals, and would like to incorporate this more into my work. I will make an abstract clip along with some of my interview footage to see how I feel about it and what message it sends and report back!
