I travelled to Tullybaccart in Dundee to find a small lochan where I could float the stones and illustrate what Lotte speaks of through the interview.
I have been working on camera angles and how to frame scenes. A section where Lotte is discussing floating stones, I wanted to capture the tranquillity and peace the floating stones bring. I also wanted to capture the stones in a small lochan to demonstrate the beauty of the process. To see the floating stones in the habitat Lotte had imagined for them is a pretty sight, and I tried to capture that through the filming.
I was limited to working with a 35mm and 18-55mm lens, though I now have access to a wide angle lens, which could have captured more of the surroundings.
I will post some of the clips with what I had in mind while filming. Through this filming I tired to capture various speeds to allow for different paces throughout the documentary, lending itself to the poetics.
