Laser City

Leah Carroll

Today I spent the day at the DCA print studio laser cutting my city set and Lotte set to go in the documentary.

I have recently just had lessons on how to work with and use the machine to get good results. Although working with traditional materials such as paper, it is a technical process that involves the computing software that only reads illustrator files and the process of working the laser machine to direct it where to cut.

I have spent the last few days researching cities and buildings and making drawings of them on Illustrator. I was hoping to get a good amount of intricacy and feel I have achieved that... I could have never done it by hand!

I really like the effect of the fine cut details in the paper...especially the windows. I think this could look good when set up and lit properly. I hope compiling the set easy enough.

I will work on lighting and setting the scenes tonight.
