I love the look of this laser cut city. I would love to try it at some point, though I don't think it's appropriate for this project.
I like how they've constructed it together and the colours used, though I would like more of a vintage feel to mine... the effect achieved with the burnt edges from the laser cutter.
I think they have used think card to achieve this, I was considering paper, though after seeing this I realise that's probably naive.
I also like how they buildings have various colours printed on them, this is something I could try before laser cutting.
I will try to achieve the look of old buildings, brick, stone and paint. I can then put it through the laser cutter and see how the result differs from the blank paper version.
When lighting this cut out city, the effects are fantastic!! I think it's possible to create a scene like this as I am not trying to sway the opinion of the viewer, only provoke thought.
The fact the city looks warm and welcoming in this image would not affect the overall aim of the documentary. How it would fit in would be the main question, though I am trying to force people to think. I don't want to provide an audience with the answer, it would be nice for them to think for themselves.
With regards to the image above, it would take too long to create something of this scale to be used for such a little section of the documentary- of at all. Therefore, I wish I hadn't come across it as I want to make it and it's possible I won't be happy with anything else I can do on my own within the timeframe I have.
